Ushuaia is a very popular place and you can literally find anything to eat here. There is even a Hard Rock Cafe. But if you are reading this article, you most probably aren't looking for touristy places. So here are my proposals:

Ushuaia is a paradise for seafood lovers, with fresh catches like king crab, black hake, and mussels being staples. The cold, nutrient-rich waters of the Beagle Channel contribute to the high quality and distinctive flavors of the local seafood, making it a must-try when visiting. Casa de Los Mariscos

A seafood lover’s dream, Casa de Los Mariscos is renowned for its king crab dishes and top-notch seafood selection. The atmosphere is cozy, with wooden decor and a homely feel that invites you to unwind after a day of exploring. The service is friendly and prompt, and the prices are reasonable, making it a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

Signature dishes include the king crab prepared in a garlic-rich sauce and the octopus casserole, which are both on many tables​​.

Personal Opinion: Casa de Los Mariscos offers a seafood experience that is both authentic and unforgettable. The king crab dishes are a particular highlight, generously seasoned and cooked to perfection. However, don't try going without reservation.

La Cantina De Freddy

Known for its exquisite seafood stew with king crab, La Cantina De Freddy also offers a worthwhile dining experience.

The restaurant has a lovely rustic charm, with wooden interiors and nautical-themed decor.

The service is pleasant, and the atmosphere is less crowded, allowing for a relaxed meal.

Personal Opinion: The seafood stew they offer, even though a bit pricey,  is amazingly rich in flavors and fresh seafood. 

Kuar Resto Bar

For a gourmet seafood experience with breathtaking views, Kuar Resto Bar is unparalleled. Located on the beach with stunning views of the Beagle Channel, it offers delicious dishes like parmesan king crab and smoked mussel cocktails.

Personal Opinion: Dining at Kuar Resto Bar is a feast for both the eyes and the palate. The seafood dishes are exquisitely prepared and presented, and the views of the Beagle Channel are simply breathtaking. This restaurant offers a perfect blend of gourmet cuisine and natural beauty.

Parilla: The Heart of Argentine Cuisine

Parrilla La Estancia

In Argentina, beef reigns supreme, and Parrilla La Estancia is the place to indulge in this tradition. The perfectly cooked beef cuts, excellent wine, and quick, friendly service make it a must-visit.

The restaurant boasts a rustic yet refined interior, with an open grill where you can watch your meat being cooked to perfection.

Personal Opinion: I didn't manage to book a table at Parrilla La Estancia. However, we went there around 7 PM and didn't have any issues finding a table. The situation got crowded after 8 PM.

Surf and Turf: Best of Both Worlds

Now if you can't decide what type of food you want, there are venues that offer a little bit of both and they do it in a great manner.

Paso Garibaldi

For instance, for those craving both seafood and beef, Paso Garibaldi offers delightful options. The restaurant features a cozy and elegant interior, with warm lighting and comfortable seating.

The menu includes a variety of flavorful dishes, from seafood starters to meaty main courses, all complemented by a great wine selection.

Personal Opinion: This restaurant has a very nice vibe. Everything we had was delicious, but my top favorite was the grilled cheese.

Cervantes Bistro Fueguino

Cervantes Bistro Fueguino, though not centrally located, provides a serene atmosphere with a delicious menu. The restaurant features a modern and minimalist decor, with a focus on quality and presentation.

The menu offers a mix of seafood and meat dishes, all prepared with fresh ingredients and served with a touch of creativity.

The wine selection is impressive, and the service is attentive.

Personal Opinion: Even though the beef cut was not the best we had in Argentina, everything else we had here was beautiful and delicious. 

Kuar 1900

Located in the heart of Ushuaia, Kuar 1900 offers a less gourmet but equally delightful dining experience as its sibling Kuar Resto Bar. The food is excellent, the prices are reasonable, and the vibe is fantastic. The restaurant features a cozy and casual interior with a focus on comfort and quality.

Personal Opinion: Kuar 1900 is a great option for those looking for a more casual dining experience. The beef was delicious and the flan with dulce de leche was the cherry on top.

Budget-Friendly Options

If you are looking for some cheap but still delicious meals, I got you covered as well.

Casa Olmo

For affordable eats, Casa Olmo is a great spot for sandwiches or burgers paired with amazing beer. The restaurant has a nice and cozy design which will make you feel very welcomed.

Personal Opinion: The whole atmosphere and friendly service make it a perfect spot for a quick and satisfying meal after a hike.

Krund

Krund is another excellent choice for delicious beer and honest fish and chips.

Personal Opinion: Krund offers great value for money with its good food and excellent beer selection. 

La Marmita

La Marmita is perfect for tasty empanadas and is ideal for a quick and satisfying meal. The venue features is simple but with a laid-back atmosphere, and  a very friendly staff. The menu includes a wide variety of empanadas, all prepared with fresh ingredients and served hot.

Personal Opinion: La Marmita is a hidden gem for those looking for a quick and delicious bite. The empanadas are flavorful and satisfying, and the casual atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for a quick meal.
